Elkhart Daily Review - Tuesday, 13 June 1905: Harvey(sic) Doering, a pioneer of this county, coming here from Germany over 50 years ago, died at his home 2 1/2 miles NE of Goshen, Sunday, aged 79. his wife, 6 children, one sister and one brother survives. Funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Goshen Daily News-times - 13 June 1905: Harvey(sic) Doering, age 79, and a pioneer of this county, died at his home 2 1/2 miles southeast of Goshen, Sundaty morning of paralysis, of an illness of seven weeks. He is survived by a wife and six children, 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, also one sister and one brother. He was born in Hessen, Germany, emigrated to America with his parents at the age of twenty-one, moving to Ohio and then to Indiana where he has lived for the past fifteen years. He was a member of the Reformed Church. The funeral will be held from the residence at 2 o'clock. Interment made at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
