      Henry Clay was A Captain in the 40th Illinois Infantry and was cited for bravery at the battle of Franklin,Tennessee where he had three horses shot out from under him while carrying orders to various officers. (I Meredith Tinney have in my possession sixty five pages of letters written by Henry Clay to his older sister Mary Jane The date Range from 1859 thru1865 the earliest letters deal with family problems and social life. The rest deal with his life during the civil war.) Henry Clay was also the A.A.General of the 40th Illinois Infantry.

      Henry Clay Tinney was elected County Clerk for the county of Tippecanoe,Illinois:Term 1886 Expires 1890.
