Earnest Cleveland (Robbie) Robertson, 90, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 7:44 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, in Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. The Rev. Steve Livengood will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Robinson Creek Methodist Church Cemetery near Shelbyville. Military rites will be performed by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association. Robbie was born April 7, 1920, in Bolivar, MO., the son of Fred and Elizabeth Reeves Robertson.
He married Lula Newcomb on June 23, 1961, in Pana, IL.
Robbie served in the United States Army Air Corp during WW II and was a member of the Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 of Shelbyville.
Robbie was a graduate medical technologist, having graduated from the Gradwald Laboratory Technology School in St. Louis, MO. After graduation, he began his career at the Veterans' Hospital in Marion, IL. He then worked at the Hulick Clinic in Shelbyville, and for the last 32 years of his working life, was a medical technologist at Pana Community Hospital in Pana, IL.
He was a member of the Tower Hill United Methodist Church and a former member of Tower Hill Lions Club and the Moose Lodge of Shelbyville.
Robbie was an avid and talented horseman. He was a member of the Fox Trotter Breeding Associations in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and St. Louis, MO. For many years, he could be seen riding his beloved Fox Trotters with family and friends in area summer parades.
He loved to roller skate. Formerly, he managed, and taught roller skating, at the Rose Arena Skating Rink (Price's Rink) in Pana, IL.
Surviving are his wife Lu; sons: Tony Robertson of Shelbyville; Jan Robertson and friend, Connie Rowcliff, of Tower Hill, IL.; and Robin Robertson and wife, Debbie, of Shelbyville; six grandchildren; twenty- one great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and nine brothers.
